The City of St. Albert's Municipal Development Plan was adopted in June 2007. The purpose of the plan is to articulate the community's vision, goals, objectives and policies that guide St. Albert's physical, social and economic development. The Municipal Development Plan can be viewed here.

The city utilizes a Land Use Bylaw to provide direction on use, size, neight, density, and location of developments in the city.
